Nkechi Kiki Gillman is the force behind The Gillman Immigration Law Firm, lawyering through a cultural lens. As an immigrant with a diverse upbringing that spans Germany, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and the Caribbean, her work is informed through her diverse perspectives.
A graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. in Business Management, Nkechi's legal journey led her to excel at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she earned her J.D. in 2009. She advocated for immigrants facing deportation and seeking humanitarian relief through the Immigrant Law Center in Minnesota.
Kiki is a zealous and fierce immigration attorney who is creative and unconventional in her lawyering. Known as the “fiercest one” for razor-sharp advocacy, edge, and style, her career representing immigrants and immigrant survivors spans over 12 years.
She is an expert in all matters of domestic violence as they relate to immigrant survivors — men, women, and children — and empowers immigrants to take back control of their lives and chart a course on their terms through the green card self-petition process. As an immigrant, it has always been an honor and privilege for her to walk her clients through this life-changing journey, one that is very personal and rewarding for her.
She is intentional about her work and has built a successful firm with a reputation for winning cases through uplifting, empowering, and liberating her clients.
Kiki is recognized in her community for her commitment to service and advocacy, and is certainly a role model. She was invited to speak to a group of first-year students on the topic of “Successfully Lawyering As Your True and Authentic Self”.
She has won numerous awards for her advocacy and humanitarian work, including her most recent recognition as one of the “Top 100 Black Lawyers” in the United States. She is a wife and mother to three beautiful and adorable boys. Besides, Kiki is a fitness and Peloton junkie, speaks Spanish fluently, and enjoys girls’ trips with her tribe.
